What does "S.I.S." stand for? Special Investigative Section. It is a police story about the Los Angeles Police Department. Some people believe that S.I.S. is a true section of the police department. You can be the judge.

What about the actors? I can tell you that I was impressed with the dedication of the crew, cast and extras. I feel bad for the lady extra who fell during the filming and cut her chin on the concrete probably resulting in several stitches. I hope she's doing well now.

As far as I can tell, actors like Matt Nable, Peter Stebbings and Omari Hardwick are very dedicated. They seem to have a very strict concentration. I can tell they have worked hard in learning their skills.

Keith David is the king actor in this movie. He has a deep voice that makes the ground vibrate. After many takes of repeating the same scene for several camera angles I wondered about his deep and strong voice. I commented him, "I hope your voice keeps going after so many takes." His reply was, "Huummm." It was thundering loud! Yes, he has a strong voice! Keith David is a fine and seasoned actor. He is the pride of all who work around him.

Then there was Colleen Porch. This is where my eyes were most of the time. My eyes were uncontrollably scanning her from top to bottom. I did this so many times that I was getting dizzy. I can tell you that definitely she has a bright future ahead of her. Looking at her work made me feel relaxed and at home. Colleen Porch makes a great combination with the acting of Keith David. I can tell you her fragrant acting is in her heart. You must look at this movie.

Director John Herzfeld did well with all these actors. John Herzfeld reminds me of my stepfather, also a film director, in the way he works. He is quality minded one hundred percent of the time. Mr. Herzfeld can tear you up with his eyes if you are out of line but if he smiles you feel like dancing. Now you know why working with this bunch and friendly crew was so good. I learned some attitudes that I can use during the filming of my film which I'm writing directing and producing on my own.

I have a lot or work ahead of me.

On the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, not me but I like it. Maybe some day there will be a Fidel Castro convention in Las Vegas and hundreds of Fidel Castros will show up. I would be there for sure (if I'm still alive!!).

An experimental review video about the movie 'Local Color' written, directed and produced by George Gallo. The movie has released to some selected theaters and should release soon to other theaters.

In this review Ruben Lara acting as Scorpion the dirty drunk wants to become a painter after watching the preview of the movie 'Local Color'. This review has french music by the great composer Jacques Romain Georges Brel in Ne Me Quitte Pas; Hubert Yves Adrian Giraud in Sous Le Ciel De Paris and Leo Ferre in Paris Canaille.

'Local Color' should become a classic and should appeal to the art lover and great movies fan.

Scorpion (the drunk character) was born from my experience during the filming of The Kingdom. I grew a beard for the movie and later I decided to use it as a drunk character. Scorpion is not part of The Kingdom movie, however. The character is intended to show the consequences of alcoholism.

I also wore a black beard in the movie S.I.S. This one is a police story from Los Angeles, CA. Try not to miss it on Spike TV, in the evening of August 24, 2008. If you miss it you might still have a chance to watch other episodes later if they film them.

Hi to all! I have been very busy lately because I am writing a script for a movie. It is an environmental comedy and I'll be producing it and directing it. I will also be playing about ten characters in the movie. An example of the characters are: a priest, a thief, a doctor, a terrorist, and others I can't reveal. I'll post more information about it in a few months. I will also be casting other people. I hope the movie turns out good so you can have a good laugh.

I will soon be taking out the proper city licenses, insurance and police escort arrangements. It all takes time and lots o'money. It is very tiring but it takes a lot of effort to accomplish a goal. See you soon.

The Kingdom Movie

Please read about my experiences in The Kingdom movie 2007.

There were a few kinks during my filming. Arriving at the set at mid morning the temperature had reached 105 deg.F (40.5C) so far. It would reach 115+ deg.F (46.1C) this day at the outdoor set. Signing-in and wardrobe would take about an hour and a half and a bucket of dehydration. I witnessed a guy laying on a table getting his chest shaved for some special effects. My knees weakened. What's in store for me?, I wondered. I went to do the film because they needed more people in a hurry, I was told. Many extras had left because it was too hot. Nick Papac, 25 assistant propmaster had lost his life in an accident. I did not work with him but my feelings go to his family. The word was that Jennifer Garner had passed out due to the heat. I had to be brave.

I then learned that I would be a SANG (Saudi Arabian National Guard) soldier. Went to wardrobe. Meassurements took place. After a few moments they tell me they don't have my size. I felt like a freak. I am only a size Large with an Extra Large head. I don't need any headaches now. Then they bring me an outfit three sizes larger, Double XX. The sleeves reached my knees. They rolled up my sleeves and put a lot of belts around my chest. Then, of course the green cap had to be small. It was falling off. Then they find a Red Berett and since it was also too small they told me to hold on to it. I get the feeling I will be filmed a mile away.

After a few minutes there is the set call. Now I'm in the middle of an area with many burned out vehicles, torn buildings and a giant crater in front of the buildings. "Action," says director Peter Berg. Then Take Two takes place. But I don't see the cameras. Then again, Take Three. I said to myself, "These people surely like to rehearse." Cut. We're done. I'm astonished. But how? Where could the cameras be? But on the way back to the cooling tent I see it. A camera. It was about a quarter of a mile away. It had a lens that looked like a telescope. The biggest lens I ever saw. Oops, I might have ruinned my take thinking it was not real. Then I heard someone make a comment that the lens cost a million dollars. Is it possible? Ohh, I think I waited too long to get back into films again. The technology has changed so much that I felt limited.

Break time, they announced. And all the free food you can eat. Good food too. And with the food comes happiness. So much happiness that most of the SANG soldiers got up and started singing in Arabic. One soldier grabs and empty five gallon plastic water bottle and starts playing it like a drum. The others were singing and dancing while rising their weapons high. I was in the middle of this situation and I loved it. Celebrating food with almost a hundred other soldiers made up my mind. I'm getting back into films if I can. I have been doing well in aerospace so it is a big decision. But for now, it will take me some time to get ready.

Now, Peter Berg walks into the tent and sees all these soldiers singing and dancing (some on the tables) to the Arabic beat. What a sight for him. He smiled. Then he announced the new take with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner. Out we go. It's dark ouside. Now there are some giant square helium filled balloons with lights inside. How smart. Then the takes begin. This time I know where the cameras are. I'll be going home soon after fourteen hours of filming. Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner arrive in a caravan of black cars. I'm standing across the street with other soldiers standing guard. Did the super stars noticed me? But of course! How could they not notice the funny looking soldier with the big uniform and the small hat?
